ABOUT THE WORK

As an artist with a degree in interior design, a former art teacher and the founder of an ad agency, I have a lengthy history with art and design, but to me nothing compares to the transcendent beauty created by nature. My appreciation of nature’s breathtaking creations is what brought me to Colorado, where, on a mountain biking trip, I chanced upon a scene so incredible I was driven to capture it with my camera so I could revisit the image forever.

However, as is so often the case when taking pictures of outdoor marvels, I found the image didn’t quite capture the glory of seeing the vista in person. So I spent many hours digitally hand-painting, adjusting, enhancing and enriching it, adding color and depth to “turn up the volume” on the piece until it did justice to the actual experience. Thus began my mission to photograph other equally wondrous land and seascapes and shape them into interpretations so vivid they are able to represent and rival nature’s achievements.

To emphasize their impact, the works are output as high-quality giclée prints onto sweeping 3ft x 4ft and larger canvases to embody the scope, color and emotion of real life. Every piece is a union of the outside world’s unparalleled beauty and my unique eye for composition, and each is limited to a 100 prints to secure its rarity and value.

Because nature is ever-evolving, so are my process and style, and I invite you to bookmark this site and like me on Instagram and Facebook to stay apprised of new creations as they become available.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

After earning a degree in Interior Design from Florida State University, Amy Cox worked as an art teacher, interior and graphic designer before founding the boutique advertising agency, Flaxen Design, in 2003.

An outdoor sports enthusiast, Amy has traveled to and lived in many lovely places, but her favorites are certainly in the majestic Rocky Mountains, red rocks and other mind-blowing areas of the Southwest and coastal areas all around California, Hawaii, Mexico and Florida. The surrounding landscapes have been the inspiration for her original giclée prints, which embrace the area’s enthralling beauty and grandeur, and enable her to bring the transcendence and serenity of these outdoor visions inside to living and working spaces.

Out of the thousands of photographs Amy has taken, the pieces in these collections were painstakingly selected for her artistic impression and expression, and printed on huge canvases to capture their magnificence and splendor.
